The Rory Peck Awards is the only showcase in the world to celebrate the work of international freelance cameramen and camerawomen in TV news and current affairs.
 

A call for entries is now open to accepting submissions from all freelancers who have had work broadcast between 1 August 2008 and 31 July 2009. The award welcomes self-funded freelance work, entries from local freelancers around the world and especially from regions where it is difficult to operate. 

In recent years growing numbers of photographers have sought to frustrate habitual viewing habits and assert the presence of the photograph’s surface. Their work can be read as an enquiry into the limits of the photograph's transparency.
