The first night of the New York Photo Festival was kind of a letdown.

The Tim Barber installation didn't feel like Tim Barber; and not in a good way -- it felt like an amateur student show in an overgrown coffee shop. The prints were really bad too, and I felt sorry for all the participating artists because I know they could have done a better job printing the work themselves (Tim made the prints from digital files). And a lot of the work was missing name tags (then again, were they needed)?

A lot of people at the festival were confused about all the other shows not being open. Power House always does a great job (too much really) of promoting themselves, but they dropped the ball on telling people what would be open last night. It might have been said, but it should have been said much louder, and more publicly. There were a lot of curators and gallerist from Manhattan wandering around, looking like lost sheep.

And Andrew, you need to write shorter sentences. Your run-on style is a difficult read; I feel like an annoying hyper kid has just run up to me, all excited and sweaty, and he has to tell me everything before taking his next breath. - J.J. Walker
