On 3 October, photographer Christopher Morris will give a talk about
his exhibition, My America, and present a short film, "Dear Leader"
which he made during the same period:
"The catalyst for the Dear Leader short came about late in 2006 when
the President was really making a push on the war on terror. There was
this foreboding vision of the presidency that I had formed by covering
the White House for Time magazine through some very difficult years. I
had watched up close how our government, led by the President, prepped
our population for what was the inevitable, the invasion of Iraq. The
main body of work I produced during this time period was 'My America.'
With this body of work there was something that my still images failed
to capture. The absolute and unequivocal message that our government
wanted us to believe, hence, the Dear Leader."
This not-to-be missed event will be held at HOST Gallery on 3 October at 6.30pm.
