In this life, some of the poisoned children are cared for in "peace villages", their own families too poor or too ill, still suffering from first generation poisoning, to cope.
Publicly, there is no animosity shown towards the United States. Two-thirds of the population is under 25 and have no memories of war, though the lives of many have been wholly changed and shaped by it.
