Documentary and Anti-Graphic Photographs
Gathered here again for the first time since 1935, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Henri Cartier Bresson and Walker Evans’ images represent an exceptional set of essential and sometimes unknown photographs. This selection of early works from three masters of photography puts the reader face to face with the history of the medium in the making. The exhibition in New York in 1935 was the very first of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s photography. This book is the last project he considered before his death and is co-published with Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, Maison Européene de la Photographie, Paris and Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne.
