About the Photograph

Kristin was the first indication for me that something in America had changed. She crystallized for me this new vision of how I was going to document the Bush presidency. Presidency with idolatry, a divine Bush. This was the actual fist image of the series My America which I then followed for the next six years and continue to follow today.

About Christopher Morris
Christopher Morris was born in California in 1958. Over the past 20 years he has concentrated the greater part of his work on war, covering some of the most defining moments in conflicts across the globe at the turn of the century. Since 2000 he has been assigned to the White House for TIME Magazine photographing the presidency of George W Bush. Morris is the recipient of numerous of accolades for his photography including The Robert Capa Gold Medal award for overseas coverage of war and numerous World Press Photo awards during his illustrious career. Christopher Morris is a founding member of the photographic agency VII and is currently based in Florida where he lives with his wife and two daughters.

Each Special Edition print comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Christopher Morris plus the story behind the image and its subject, Kristin Fontaine.

Caption: Fighting the cold in a draughty old farm building is quite a challenge. I was impressed by the aggressive stance of the operator. He was attacking the wall with a high-pressure spray gun, forcing insulating foam into the brickwork. When completed the increased warmth was quite remarkable. Photographed in 1963 at Shell International.
