- Talk with Jocelyn Bain Hogg
12 December 6:30 pm
Please join us for an evening with Jocelyn Bain Hogg, as he charts his more than a decade-long journey looking at the culture of organised crime in London.
Bain Hogg's foray into the underworld of organised crime began with his seminal work, The Firm
, published as a book in 2003. After a project in 2008 on gun and knife crime issues surrounding Britain's youth, Bain Hogg decided once again to turn his lens towards the people supplying the weapons and drugs to London estates. The result is The Family
- a three-year journey in pictures chronicling a fractured society of British criminals with little or no organisation and leadership who are vainly competing, as many businesses have to do, with international competition.
Taking as a starting point the work of 18th century artist and reformer William Hogarth, Bain Hogg will look at the history of documenting this dark underbelly of society and explain how his own work has come about.
Bain Hogg will be in conversation with Alice Waugh, writer and copy editor of The Family
, published by Foto8, will be available to purchase on the night. The exhibition of this work is on at the Foto8 Gallery from 8 December - 14 January.
Pre-booking is essential.
