- Postponed until Further Notice: Artist talk with Jane Hilton
20 May 6:30 pm
To accompany her exhibition Dead Eagle Trail, on at HOST until 3 June, Jane Hilton will be discussing the project, what a cow puncher is, and where cowboys go to surf. The title of her book and exhibition refers to her discovery of a dead golden eagle in the middle of the road in Nevada. The experience inspired her to document and explore one of the most iconic, romantic archetypes of American culture and history, the cowboy and his way of life. Dead Eagle Trail marks Hilton’s empathetic portrayal of the cowboy of the 21st century. Unlike previous expositions of the American West, Hilton’s subjects are photographed within their own personal environments, surrounded by their collections of artifacts and memorabilia. Jane will also show extracts from her documentary series Love For Sale, which is based on two brothels outside of the city limits of Carson City, Nevada.
