This two-day seminar, organised by Foto8 and the Rory Peck Trust, is aimed at photographers who have begun to work with video and the moving image and want to explore the medium - and its possibilities - further.
As camera technology advances and the media landscape changes, more and more photographers are working with video and moving image - some by choice, others through necessity. But what are the skills needed to shoot and produce effective and compelling documentaries, and is it really possible to work successfully across both mediums?
This intimate seminar will look at different approaches to documentary filmmaking - exploring themes such as concept, style, character, narrative, sound, audience and distribution - and examine the creative and editorial challenges faced by photographers working with moving image.
Five renowned industry practitioners, representing different backgrounds and disciplines will each discuss their individual experiences and approaches and share their knowledge.
