Foto8 Summer Show 2010

Enter your work for a chance to be exhibited in London’s prestigious HOST gallery and to be awarded Best in Show.

After the enormous success of the previous years’ Summer Shows, Foto8 and HOST Gallery are pleased to announce the call for entries for the third-annual Foto8 Summer Show: a photographic award, exhibition and print fair. The show will follow in Foto8’s tradition of supporting and encouraging work by contemporary and independent photographers.

The Entrants
The 2010 Summer Show is open to all photographers from 29 March. Details on how to enter your work will be available soon. Deadline for all entries is 31 May 2010.

The Exhibition
A panel of judges will choose over 150 images to be displayed at HOST from 26 July – 4 September, where there will be an inspiring variety of framed and mounted images of all shapes and sizes, installed from floor to ceiling. All works included in the show will be available for sale. The print exhibition will kick-off with live music and a street festival taking over Honduras Street, EC1 on Friday 23 July.

The Awards
Once the show is up, an expert team of judges will choose their favourite photograph to be named “Best in Show”. This will be announced during the fourth week of the show and the winner will be awarded £1500. A second award, “The People’s Choice” will be decided from the votes received in the gallery during the show, and presented with a prize of photographic kit.

The 2009 Summer Show

The 2009 Summer Show saw an overwhelming response, with over 2300 images entered from 44 different countries, including Bangladesh, Iran, Mexico, Thailand and Turkey. The team at FOTO8, led by the editorial staff at 8 Magazine, shortlisted more than 100 individual works to hang in HOST, during July and August. A cash award of £1500 was presented to the single entry selected as “Best in Show” (Torben Weiss) by a panel of industry experts: Diana Ewer of TAG, gallerist Richard Kalman, photographer Simon Norfolk, Andrea Stern of the V&A and Graham Wood of the Times. In addition, visitors to the exhibition voted for their favourite, the People’s Choice, which was awarded to Sofie Knjiff.
