Planet Magazine Competition

25 Sep 2008

San Francisco based magazine, PLANET has announced it's 1st annual Global Travel Photo Contest with the ultimate prize for any budding travel photographer: a round-the-world ticket, open for one year (or $1000 cash prize), with a 10-page portfolio assignment covering the trip to be published upon the winner's return.

The theme is "Many Worlds, One Planet" and photographers are asked to not only submit images defining a particular place but also ones that show the people, cultures, and sub-cultures of the places they document; a powerful portrait or image of a gathering can equally reveal the depth and mystery of the travel experience. Judges include Tim Barber (tinyvices.com), Sara Rosen (powerHouse books & New York Photo Festival) and other esteemed photography proffesionals and PLANET editors.

The deadline for submissions is October 20, 2008, midnight, GMT. Finalists will be selected by December 15, 2008, and winners will be notified by January 1.
