The schools initiative was started at Foto8 in early 2012. Primary School classes from the local area enjoyed a day of viewing an exhibition, meeting a professional and taking pictures themselves. In the words of a teacher who attended, the children"came alive with ideas and left with such enthusiasm and new knowledge about the subject we explored during the day". We decided to work with schools and develop the concept further. The result is a full year programme, tailored to fit children aged 8-11 at Primary Schools in some of London's most under-privileged areas. Our programme compliments their classroom subjects with stunning imagery, engaging photographic projects and photographers, and provides the tools to learn in a fun and creative way. ![]() There are day trips planned to relevant exhibitions and class tutorials discussing topics as wide-ranging as the Victorians, Geography, the Second World War, Creative Writing, 'How we relate to others' and even science subjects. Our Crowdfunding campaign seeks to raise £12,000 (part of an overall annual budget) for Jon and Yasmin of Foto8, and guest professional photographers and artists, to deliver 80 day sessions between April 2013 and March 2014. I hope you will support us by helping us to match funds with other charitable educational organisations to fully fund the full year. Please look at the indiegogo campaign and donate what you can. Further information for supporters, photographers and teachers is available on the schools page on this site, or contact yasmin@foto8.com http://www.foto8.com/new/education/learning-for-schools Thank you for your generosity and please check back for updates and news on this exciting new initiative from Foto8.
