THE ATTENDANT
Jorge owns a petrol station that floats on the Amazon River. Everyday he sits there and waits for customers, filling up the little river boats as they arrive and dreaming of life on a farm.

Vanderlei leaves his home at 4am in his bus. He makes a daily 60km round trip through the deforested land of Rondonia to collect local children on their way to school.

José Alberto is the proud Tae Kwon Do champion of the Amazon. To compete in tournaments, he has to leave his home town of Barcelas and travel three days down river by boat to Manaus, the sprawling Amazonian metropolis.

When José’s wife left him, he packed up and moved from Sao Paulo to the Amazon. Preferring solitude in the jungle to the increasing population and violence in Sao Paulo, he cleared a small patch of land, built his own house and enjoys a quiet life in his hammock.
