During most of the stay the mood was very surreal as we (the international press) watched and reported on cruise missiles and other high tech bombs.
Sometimes missiles were landing within a few hundred metres of our hotel in Belgrade.

Every time NATO bombs missed their targets we were taken to these sites immediately to be shown the damage. These trips in my mind were extremely important. Documenting the damage that the bombing was doing to the Serbian civilian population was just as important as it was to cover the civilian suffering on the Albanian side during this whole period.
