afinebeginning_flyerA Fine Beginning, from which this collective takes its name, is the first chapter of Dylan Thomas’ unfinished novel ‘Adventures in the Skin Trade’.

A Fine Beginning is a Welsh photography collective, established by photographer James O Jenkins with the ambition to develop a platform to discover and showcase contemporary photography being made in Wales today.

The collective launched with a publication in May 2013 – the issue showcased the work of four of our current members; Gawain Barnard, Jack Latham, Abbie Trayler-Smith and James O Jenkins. It is the collective’s aim to create a platform for photographers making work in Wales to have their photography seen and appreciated in Wales and beyond.

A Fine beginning’s first exhibition ‘Made in Wales‘ opens at Arcade Cardiff in Queens Arcade with an open private view event at 6pm on Friday 14th March 2014. The exhibition will showcase the work of the collective as well as featuring a number of images by other photographers who have been previously published on the group’s weekly blog site.
