berruti_280Cargmignac Gestion is an award dedicated to supporting the in-depth work of photojournalists by giving them a means to visit areas that are largely ignored by the mainstream media outside periods of conflict. The grant is awarded to fund a reportage project, an exhibition upon completion of the project and the publication of a monograph. This year’s award, the third annual, is centred around the topic of Zimbabwe.

Last year’s winner, Massimo Berruti, realised an indepth reportage in Pakistan (image above) which will be exhibited over the month of November at Chapelle de Beaux-arts de Paris. Berruti’s work focused in particular on the Lashkars, a civilian militia fighting with the support of Pakistan’s army against the Taliban.

See www.fondation-carmignac-gestion.com for more information on how to enter this year’s award. Entries must be submitted by 30 September 2011.
