Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Eugene Richards studied photography under Minor White. His first book, the self-published Dorchester Days became the catalyst for his joining of Magnum Photos as he continued his editorial work often based around social issues, drug abuse and the American family.
His most recent publication, The Blue Room, is a study of abandoned homes in rural America. Richards travelled around the American landscape for over three years, looking into these forgotten residences. His resulting sequence of colour photos are a homage to the mystery and beauty of these places.
Please join us to hear Richards speak about this project and his career as a photographer.
