Oh Carla

A photo handed out, presumably for good PR by Christies this week shows a nude Carla Bruni by photographer Michel Comte from 1993. In England the newspapers all took the opportunity, as we do, to publish it. But why?

What’s so remarkable here? That she’s the presidential first lady of France? That Christies would include this in their naked super model photo auction? That Christies is having a naked super model auction?

Forget compassion fatigue, is there no sleaze fatigue? A far more glamorous shot is one I found by AFP photographer Shaun Curry of Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy’s arrival in England this week. She and Monsieur Le Président are meeting the Queen. Bruni, and the images created of her,  bring a style more reminiscent of a Breakfast at Tiffany’s movie than a stuffy state visit. Scandalous!
