As the official Election Artist, Roberts was commissioned by the House of Commons to produce a series of artworks that respond to the 2010 UK General Election. During the 17 days of official campaigning Roberts went around the UK in a motorhome photographing local landscapes and scenes connected to the election, focusing on the relationship between politicians and the voting public. He recorded not only the three main political parties but also the smaller parties and independent candidates, whilst simultaneously inviting the public to submit their own images of election activity in their area.
