The SUMMER SHOW at HOST is conceived as an open print fair and annual show of new works by photographers. In 2008 we received over 1,800 image entries from 38 countries. These were edited down to 170 photographs by a team of editors including: Sophie Batterbury from the Independent on Sunday, Fiona Rogers from Magnum Photos, and members of the Foto8 editorial team.
Using a democratic system of single votes the images hung in HOST gallery represent the top 170 images chosen from all entries received. Photographers selected for the exhibition were invited to submit their own print and frame to hang in HOST.
All works were for sale and 10% of all final sales was donated by HOST to the Disasters Emergency Committee, a clearing charity for funding international humanitarian relief operations.
The opening night was a great success with lots of positive feedback. We have huge plans for next years show, so enter your best images and lets make it a show to remember!
