The Foto8 Summershow is an annual event open to all photographers from around the world: student, professional or non-professional. There is no age limit.

Photographers may submit recent work of any subject, style or genre.

Photographers may make one submission of up to three images.

All work submitted must be the Photographer’s own work.

Images may be black and white or colour.

Images may be submitted as individual works or as a sequence.

Foto8 accepts submissions for the Summershow via its online entry form only. Images must be uploaded as jpegs and files must not exceed 1280x1024px at 72dpi.

Each photographer may submit only one entry to the competition in which they may submit up to three images. Entries are open until 31st May, a small fee of £20 is applicable. (Note the fee may increase, at our discression, to £30 after 15th May)

The Foto8 editors and staff will shortlist up to 150 images for consideration by a panel of judges. No emphasis or special treatment will be given to any individual image or entry based on the photographer or the number of images entered.

These shortlisted images will constitute the Summershow Exhibition and will be on display at HOST Gallery from 8 July – 12 August. Work will be available for viewing on Foto8’s on-line slideshow and will be included in a printed exhibition catalogue. Images may also be used in other material in connection with the Summershow.

The Foto8 team selection for the exhibition is final – no discussion or correspondence will be entered into.

The final number of images selected for exhibition will be based on limitations of space. In some instances the exhibition will extend beyond the gallery into the entrance and staircase in the building.

Photographers who have been shortlisted for inclusion in the Summershow and whose work will be considered by the panel of judges will be notified by email by 3 June.

Shortlisted photographers will be required to provide high quality archival prints, framed or mounted to a saleable standard to be delivered in person or by courier at the expense of the photographer to:

A ‘People’s Choice’ award, decided by votes from the public, will be announced at the end of the show.

Each photographer exhibiting at the Summershow will be entitled to free entry to the launch party at HOST in Honduras St, EC1. Photographers will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets for their guests. As tickets are limited, shortlisted photographers will be given priority.

All work included in the Summershow will be for sale. Foto8 will work with photographers to set an achievable price where asked to do so.

Foto8 will share the proceeds on all print sales from the Sumemrshow equally with the photographer.

A further selection from the Summershow will be made by the Crane Kalman gallery in Brighton for a subsequent exhibition. Photographers will be asked if they wish to participate in this opportunity. Delivery of work to and from Crane Kalman will be facilitated by Foto8.

At the close of the Summershow, photographers are required to organise collection of any unsold works from Foto8, in person or by courier, and at the photographer’s expense. Photographers will be required to inform us of the date and time of pick up and any relevant courier details and tracking numbers.

Foto8 will package and label the work before pickup.

Work will be held for a maximum of two months after the close of the exhibition. After this time Foto8 will make a final attempt to contact photographers before disposing of or claiming work as its own as it sees fit.

Finally all copyright of any submitted work will remain with the photographer.

If you have any questions about the Summershow or feel we can make our terms clearer or indeed fairer please do not hesitate to contact us directly as we firmly believe that this is your show and the terms, fees and guidelines are there solely to make it an enjoyable, manageable and absolutely unique annual exhibition for us all.
