In 2005 he returned, camera in hand, and began documenting daily life.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Born in Jerusalem and raised in Lebanon, the son of an Irish mother and Palestinian father, Omar Yashruti began visiting Ireland whenever he could. Growing up amid the conflict of Beirut in the 60&#8217;s and 70&#8217;s, what Yashruti found in Ireland &#8212; army patrols, guns in the streets, and daily reports of bombings, demonstrations and house burnings &#8212; was familiar, and the cold gray tones of resistance, division and disorder colored his vision.\u00a0 The 24 photographs selected for The North are part of an ongoing project
