He has been commissioned by the London Contemporary Dance School to document their work over several years. Santos&#8217; original work and conceptual photography is highly collaborative. He works closely with dance artists, stylists and designers to explore notions of movement, displacement, time and space as communication structures.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Santos was born and raised in Lisbon and has lived and worked in Europe, America and Asia throughout his career.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Surface<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"nunossantos_surface2_400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.foto8.com\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/nunossantos_surface2_400.jpg?resize=275%2C431&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"275\" height=\"431\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Surface explores the need for a physical point of gravity reference \u2013 the floor \u2013 for the viewer to be able to understand movement. A parallel can be established with non-physical elements, such as emotions or thoughts, where these only have meaning when related to a point of reference. To challenge this relationship to a physical point of gravity, a water surface is used as the \u2018floor\u2019 \u2013 allowing for a \u2018moving\u2019 point of reference, exploring what happens to that need.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Metallic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"nunosantos_metallic_400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.foto8.com\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/nunosantos_metallic2_400.jpg?resize=275%2C275&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"275\" height=\"275\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Investigates the aimed precision of movement in dance and the repetitive process dancers undertake in order to achieve this precision. In many ways this repetition and precision echoes the function of machinery, purpose-built for a task. The dancer\u2019s body is honed and shaped for precision and repetition through discipline and focused training. Similar at times in demand to that of machinery, the body of the dancer moves through the\u00a0edges of precision into free-flow movement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"nunosantos_parts_400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.foto8.com\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/nunosantos_parts_400.jpg?resize=271%2C400&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"271\" height=\"400\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The focus of this series is to create images that challenge continuity of the human body. Continuous lines define the movement associated with the human body and Parts looks at how breaking those lines gives different body\u00a0parts autonomous existences.
