Algeria: Parents of the Disappeared
The stories are all too familiar. In the evening police or military come to the house and take the men for questioning.

That is usually the last they are seen. When people enquire as to what has happened they are told that no one knows. Women who are persistant risk harrassment and or imprisonment.

In the Human Rights Watch report of February 2003 the organisation concluded that in all the cases they have on file not one family has been informed of what has ever happend to their missing relatives.
