T
he only road that connects Kohi Birjn to the rest of Afghanistan has been closed due to the ongoing fighting between the Taleban and the Hazara and so the aid distribution points have been set up in the northern side of the blockaded mountain region. In order to get to the two distribution points people have to climb over the 4400 meters high Mount Siorek. From the nearest village the journey takes about eight hours. On their way back men carry potato sacks weighing 65 kilograms. The families without healthy males or a donkey to carry the load are left without any aid.
