A better series of stylised, tourist board moments could scarcely be imagined, and the girls - most of who were completely raw, inexperienced models, not voted for but hand-picked at the last minute to fill the seats more for their passports than their looks, brought abundant naivety to match the cynicism of observers. The tears flowed down onto the girls stylised Gadaffi T-shirts during their guided tour of the shell of his house, the site of the 1986 American bombing. Libyan state cameramen snapped happily as Italian PM Berlusconi’s entourage, awaiting their outdoor post-conference dinner, looked on in astonishment.
